Have your own Royal Wedding tea party!

Here’s some pleasant news from the media: Prince William of Wales will marry Kate Middleton on April 29, 2011.  What better way to watch the Royal Wedding than with a party, specifically a tea party?  Everyone can get dressed up in their nicest garden party dress (suits with morning coats for the men) and hats, and enjoy an English-style tea in front of the television.  Since the event will occur in the early morning (Pacific time), you may want to have a high tea the evening before while watching some of the pre-wedding specials, and then watch the wedding replay in the morning, or record it live and watch it with your tea in the afternoon.  Here is a suggested menu for your party:

Royal Wedding Darjeeling tea from Lisa’s Tea Treasures
Twinings Earl Grey tea

Buckingham Palace scones
Devon cream
Strawberry jam

Mini shepherd’s pies
Egg and Watercress sandwiches
Goat Cheese and Salmon Crepes
Croques Monsieur

McVitie’s chocolate biscuits
Chef McGrady’s Chocolate Biscuit Cake
Sticky toffee pudding (Kate’s favorite)
Mini banana flans (William’s favorite)
Mini fruit cake wedding cakes with cream and white icing and roses

Many local television stations are advertising their Royal Wedding coverage, and it’s not just BBC America: CNN and TLC will re-broadcast the wedding at 8 p.m., and KQED will be showing documentaries beginning on April 24th. The Brittania Arms in Almaden will also be playing the re-plays of the wedding and royal wedding documentaries all day on the 29th, along with serving an English-style breakfast.  CNN and many of the other networks will be broadcasting special shows having to do with the current wedding, as well as Princess Diana’s wedding.  It should be a fun and fancy event!
